WHEN?
TuTu In You is Back on April 2, 2013!
The Winter 2013 session ended on March 5, 2013. The Spring session begins on April 2, 2013. TuTu in You is held on Tuesday afternoons between 3:30pm and 5:30pm.
Here's a message from the TuTu in You Leaders...
**Hello wonderful Tutu-ers,**
Many thanks for your colourful, collaborative and creative sewing winter season! We have enjoyed every button stitching, fabric flowing and wool winding adventure with you all!
We will return on Tuesday April 2nd for our exciting spring season in the sewing room.
Please mark your calendars for our annual Planet Youth Extravaganza on Sunday May 26th 11am at Elora Gorge Cinema where we will be hosting our own fashion show with outfits created by the tutu-ers every week in the sewing room. A chance for our amazing sew-ers to feel celebrated wearing their amazing ideas and wearable art! Every year the Elora Gorge Cinema generously gives us their space so we can offer an opportunity for other community youth groups to collaborate and encourage our youth to feel celebrated and supported by our community.
This year we will be collaborating with the dancers of Fergus-Elora Academy of Dance, OSCATS! Improv Drama Group, Older Voices, the Progressive Youth Initiative and more TBA! More details to follow…
Many kind thanks for your continued Toonie Tuesday donations which helps us to keep up with sewing suppliesand another mannequin which will be bought during March Break. We have other exciting adventures ahead which we will share at a later date.
We are so looking forward to seeing the wonders emerging from the sewing room next season!
Creative wishes and sparkling threads,
Steph, Chelsea, Paloma, randi, Libby and Denise
The Tu-Tu in You... GROUP LEADERS!

HOW TO JOIN?
All sew-ers (new and returning) must complete a new sign up/ registration form. Especially important is for us to update all contact emails and phone numbers in case we need to find you! The Fall 2012 - Spring 2013 TuTu In You Registration Form can be downloaded here and brought to the first class.
Parents, please ensure your sew-er has a wholesome snack (maybe extra leftover lunch?) and water bottle.
Imaginations need feeding! Once the sew-ers arrive at the ECFTA and are signed in, we will not permit them to leave the premises until 5.30pm or when you pick them up. We want to keep them safe and know where they are during their time with us.
** New this year -- To keep the Youth Room open we are starting a new "Drop-in Fee" of $2 every Tuesday they come. We really appreciate your support with this as it will help pay for heating and general up-keep of the room.
Many kind thanks for your enthusiasm,
~ Steph
WHAT IS "The Tu Tu in You…Sewing off the Edge"?
The “Tutu-ers” are an inspiring group of young people who creatively sew and learn together at the Elora Centre for the Arts, in the Youth Rotary Room. These creative individuals encourage each other to wear and create clothes, textile items and wearable art that they feel best represent who they are, regardless of high fashion images. They compassionately support and learn from each other’s lives and differences. Through stitching pieces together pieces of recycled clothing, materials, textiles and bits and bobs, the “Tu Tu-ers” discover and express their multi-layered, unique identities while inspiring us all to stand tall in who we are. No experience necessary!
Ages 9 and up: Tuesdays 3:30pm - 5:30pm
Please bring a snack and water bottle ~ imaginations needs feeding!
We are recruiting volunteers to assist Steph & Chelsea with leading the group. Please come and sign up for a date or two!
We are relying on your kindness and time to help sustain this amazing program. High School students can obtain Community volunteer hours for helping out with this program!
How much does it cost to join the Tu-Tu in You?
Starting in September 2012, we are asking for a "Drop-in Weekly Fee" of $2
We will have a "TuTu Toonie" sign-in sheet so you can pay a larger amount that can be used up in increments. i.e.. $10 equals 5 drop-in classes. We really appreciate your support with this as it will help pay for the overall up-keep of the room.
What to Bring?
The room is stocked with generously donated fabric scraps, threads, needles, bits and bobs and sewing machines.
There are enough supplies for everyone to share but please feel welcome to bring along any materials or old clothes you wish to alter and experiment with.
What could I donate to this program?
Fabric scissors, elastic, stuffing, material, buttons, ribbon, lace, pin cushions, embroidery thread, hoops and needles and any other exciting sewing paraphernalia that you may have lurking in a cupboard! We are always looking for skilled sewing machine folk to help us look after our machines with minor repairs and adjustments ~ please let us know if you are able to drop in and help from time to time.
VOLUNTEERS!
We need adult helpers anytime to drop by and assist our young sew-ers with simple sewing techniques and encourage them with their creative designs and ideas. Do you knit or crochet? We would love you to drop by and teach us!
THANK YOU TO ALL OUR DONORS AND VOLUNTEERS!
