Dorothy Ames
Our chair-person, Dorothy Ames, comes to us from the world of interior design. A resident of Elora for more than 15 years, Dorothy has served on the board of the Elora Centre for the Arts for three years.
Known for her splendid fundraising efforts as the co-founder of Jazz on the Grand, she is committed to fulfilling our vision and mandate. Dorothy's successful business, Dorothy Ames Design Studio Ltd., burst into the world of design in 1980 and has been responsible for adding a fresh design approach in the homes of clients in the Toronto area, the US, the Caribbean and Europe, and now in Elora and Fergus. Two of her most challenging projects were the revitalization of the McLean Estate at Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto and Riverslea House on the grounds of the Homewood Health Centre, Guelph, into conferences centres. Dorothy built a ground-breaking retail business in Toronto in the 70's with the renowned General Store. We welcome her years of experience both in business and in the creative arts.
